When Dan Reynolds met Minka Kelly, he knew it was time to begin something new.
As the Imagine Dragons singer, who confirmed his romance with the Friday Night Lights star in 2022—recently revealed, the pair met through a friend shortly after his split from ex Aja Volkman.
And once he decided to share his new music with the Euphoria star, Minka also opened up about her own creative process, sharing that she was in the midst of working on her memoir, Tell Me Everything.
“She’s like, ‘Well, if you’re going to share your art, I can share something with you, but it’s very vulnerable for me,’” Dan told People in an article published July 2. “’Do you want to do this or not?’ She was very scared for me to read the book because we hadn’t met, just as much as I was scared for her to hear a song that I’d written.”
He added, “But we shared it and then it ended up being a really beautiful thing and brought us a lot closer. I think it helped us both kind of understand each other on a deeper level quite quickly.”
All in all, the “Warriors” singer is grateful for their unique start.
“It was a really strange and awesome way to meet someone because I was hearing all her life stories from youth to now, and she had a really hard, colorful, beautiful life,” he told the publication. “Getting to read it all before you even meet somebody… I’ve never had that kind of introduction to someone.”
But it didn’t end there, of course, since after a month after they met, Dan—who shares kids Arrow, 11, twins Gia and Coco, 7, and Valentine, 4—noted that he and Minka have “been attached at the hip, adding that the pair are “in a really happy, healthy relationship.”
“The kids really love Minka and really love their mom, and that’s okay,” he explained. “We view it as kind of bonuses to the family: more people to love, more people to help. We’ve just been really careful with that and slow with navigating how to bring Minka in to that conversation. She’s done a really incredible job of being sensitive and careful on her end as well.”
